Free Thinking on Writing

First, it is quite crazy for a local Chinese, who has even never taken a plane, to write something in Medium.

Actually, last year, I tried to write something on a few Chinese writing flatforms, like Jianshu. I wrote a film review of Steven Chow’s film, Comedy King 2. As that was near the 2020 Spring Festival, I also wrote an article about mountain-claiming. I do not quite remember the content, but, they seem to have not attracted much readers. That was a short attempt!

I want to be a translater, as I am good at English (as you can find) and not interested in my own major (mechanics) at all. I spent months to learn grammar, translation, English writing this year. I think that, writing in English will help me improve my translation skills. By the way, writing itself is a skill, a potential way to earn money. Coincidentally, the Chinese platform Jianshu, as someone noted, is an imitation of Medium.

When I was a junior high student, I dreamed to be a writer in the future. I thought that a writer could go traveling while writing something (maybe a novel) down and selling it for money. That sounds beautiful! However, after I grew up, I found that, whether you can travel to no matter where you want does not depend on your profession, but on your financial ability! I admit that I have not realized this dream of traveling yet.

This piece is quite imformal, and I am not sure how to name its category — free writing? imformal essay? I have no idea. I am just writing down whatever in my mind, and am not goiong to organize it into something else. Ok, for a 0-experience writer, I think it is okey.

You know what, I read a book Devil in Prada last year. I did it for improving my English. I thought it would be a way to learn a language, but, after annotating the whole book with Chinese charaters under all the unfamiliar words, I am not sure about the effects.

So much for this piece for now — the length is enough. I will communicate something more concrete in later drafts. Hope to see your comments! Thanks.
